Ok so I wrote a list right before the release of 6th. Based on what I wanted to do, what the interwebs seemed to think was effective, and overall trying to maintain a balance between effectiveness and theme. The list I came up with follows:
Keeper of Secrets
2 Heralds of Tzeentch
- Master of Sorcery
- We are Legion
- Bolt of Tzeentch
15 Blood Letters
7 Plague Bearers
7 Plague Bearers
10 Seekers of Slaanesh
6 Blood Crushers of Khorne
Daemon Prince
- Mark of Nurgle
- Iron Hide
- Unholy Might
- Daemonic Flight
1500 points roughly... 1496 I think...
I played my first game with it on Wednesday July 4th against Imperial Guard. My opponent also took a list similar to what he would have taken last edition. We got Purge the Alien with the short edge deployment (can't remember the name). By turn 5 I had 11 VP (8 units killed, Warlord killed, First Blood, Unit in opponent's deployment zone) to his 3 VP (2 Units killed, Warlord killed).
Now, in fairness, he had a unit of Plague Bearers, the Blood Letters, the Seekers and the Blood Crushers all down to 1 wound each. But even if I give him all those units I still won 11 to 7.
So you would think this was a resounding success, right? Not so much, I got lucky, alot. That unit of Plague Bearers should have died turn 1 to shooting. My Keeper which eventually died, should have died a turn earlier than he/she did. It took a turn longer than I wanted to kill his tank. He only have one piece of armor, more would have been very problematic.
So I am going to make a couple changes for next game:
Out:
Both Heralds of Tzeentch
One Blood Crusher
In:
Soul Grinder w/ all 3 shooting attacks
The Masque
Hopefully I will get another game soon to test this. I'll keep you posted.
